Can you have a free eye test with a PRSI/Medical Card?
If you qualify for a free eye test under the Medical Card scheme, you will need to come into store and complete an application form which will be sent to the HSE for authorisation. Once you receive the form back from the HSE you are able to book a sight test.
How often are you entitled to a free PRSI/Medical Card eye test?
Adults and children are normally advised to have a sight test every two years.
What do you need before your eye test?
You or your spouse may qualify for a free eye test under the PRSI treatment benefit scheme. On booking an appointment we will ask you for your PPS number to see whether you are eligible for a free eye test.
What are the terms and conditions of the free eye test?
Free eye test with PRSI: Subject to eligibility. Free eye test funded by the Health Service Executive (HSE) or the Department of Social Protection. Excludes eye tests for VDU use, safety glasses or driving licences.
What about free glasses and eye test with a Medical Card?
Subject to eligibility. Other lenses and Extra Options available at an additional charge. Free glasses and free eye test funded by the Health Service Executive (HSE).
